LIONEL MESSI | PES STATS
Prime Messi was something else indeed. Quick, strong, technical, and clinical. On top of those qualities, he's incredibly consistent as well. An absolutely outrageous footballer, he was so good it's almost unfair. Nobody would ever scored 91 goals, whilst delivering 22 assist in a calendar year. Nobody has ever played the beautiful game quite like Lionel Messi.
SERGIO BUSQUETS | PES 2011 STATS | 2011-2013
Well, what can I say. To have 2 separate stats in this Blog already say something about how much I love this player, which for me at least, the greatest defensive midfielder of his generation. Yes you heard it right. Not Xabi Alonso, not Pirlo, not Fernandinho, not Casemiro, nor Rodri who is rated very highly nowadays. In my eyes, there's simply no one who embodied the Anchor Man role as perfectly as Busquets.
This set represent arguably his physical prime, during which he was part of the best midfield three ever assembled, alongside Xavi and Iniesta. Though not as flamboyant and mobile as the later two, Busquets quite probably was the most important one, having trusted by Guardiola to sit as the deepest midfielder, who's main job was to link up the defense and midfield, and also to act as the protector of the ultra high defensive line which was typically associated with Guardiola's Barcelona. A very difficult task indeed. So when somebody could make it seems like it was the easiest job in the world, he must be very good at it. And that's what Busquets did.
Watching Busquets play is amazing. He rarely have more than five touches in every single action. How he could makes everything looks so simple is simply unbelievable. This was courtesy of a very intelligent brain, and an elite level spatial awareness. It looks like he's always two steps ahead of everyone else. Busquets really is a rare breed of footballer.
