One of the true master of midfield control, Borja Valero was expected to be Xavi's successor in some ways, particularly in Spain NT. That never really happened, because those midfield unit of Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta, and David Silva still holds up pretty well for some stretch of time, despite of their ages. This means Valero never had a chance to prove himself in NT.
This set represent his time at Villarreal, before they eventually got relegated after a horrible 2011-2012 campaign. Valero simply a class act in midfield, great at dictating tempo and progressing the play, courtesy of high class technique, and even better passing skills. He's like a retro version of somebody like Pedri, who doesn't have a great end product but so influential in their team's attack.
