STEVEN GERRARD | PES STATS | 2004-2005

A real character and inspirational figure, Gerrard was one of the most dominant midfielder in his prime, one of only a few players that i think could play alone in midfield. His passing range was great, his work rate and mentality was exemplary. The thing is though, he seems too all rounded. This is both a plus and a minus. A plus as he's able to play essentially everywhere, under emergency situation. A minus as he didn't have a defined area of where to improve, because he's literally good at everything. He eventually had different roles later in his career, as sort of a 10, behind Torres in his late 20s, and later as a deep lying 6 or DMF in his late 30s, under Brendan Rogers. And yes in both roles he's by no means bad, far from that. He's in fact so reliable and important in both roles. But I always keep imagining, maybe if he had a more defined role earlier in his career, he could become a more memorable player with unique qualities, rather than just recognized as a great all rounder.
